Prompt: What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

In high school, I’ve learned a lot of life skills that will help me live more independently. Time management is a big one, I’ve had to juggle school, homework, and other responsibilities, which taught me how to stay organized and meet deadlines. I’ve also learned how to communicate better, whether it’s asking teachers for help or working with others on group projects. One of the most essential skills for success after high school is responsibility, knowing how to take care of tasks without being reminded. These skills will definitely help me handle college, a job, and everyday life on my own.

Prompt: It's Super Bowl weekend! Some people watch the Super Bowl for football, others for the commercials, and some just for the halftime show. What’s your favorite part of big events like this, and why?

My favorite part of big events like the Super Bowl is definitely football. Even though I never watch the NFL season, I always watch the Super Bowl because it's the largest event in the United States. I actually enjoy watching football, but I would rather spend time watching soccer instead of football. Regardless, the Super Bowl consists of the two teams with the greatest strength going against each other. I also enjoy eating wings with my family while we watch the game.

Prompt: What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

The most challenging part of writing an essay for me is the brainstorming process. Sometimes I have a hard time figuring out where to start or what direction to take with my ideas. I might have a general idea of the topic, but I struggle to narrow it down into something specific and interesting. To overcome this, I plan to create a free body brainstorming diagram before I even start the essay. This will allow me to jot down what I'm thinking in my mind and write it on my essay.

Prompt: If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

If I wrote a poem about my life right now, it would be all about graduation and everything that comes with it. I'd talk about the mix of excitement and nerves, being happy to be done with high school but also a little scared about starting college. It would mention all the celebrations with friends and family, like taking pictures in caps and gowns and going out to eat after the ceremony with my parents. I'd include how it feels weird to leave behind people I've seen every day for years. Mostly, it would be about moving on, growing up, and hoping college goes well for me.

Prompt: Describe a time when you had to speak in front of an audience. What were your fears? How did you handle them? What advice would you give to someone struggling with stage fright?

The largest audience I've had to speak in front of was during elementary school spelling bees. The first fears of speaking in front of an audience arose during these moments in school. The first spelling bee I participated in was the hardest for me to participate in because of my lack of speech during this time. I was in speech therapy class throughout elementary school that aimed to resolve my refusal to speak. This further added on to my anxieties that I had when I was on stage in front of students and parents. To this day, I regret what I did to handle my stage fright at that moment, because I've realised over the years that it was the worst action i could've done. I decided to purposely misspell the word I was given, which was "ballet." I just wanted to get the spelling bee over while getting off stage during the process. In retrospect, I should've just spelt "ballet" correctly because it would've been less embarrassing to get the word ...

Prompt: Imagine it's the year 2050. What does the world look like? How have technology, society, and the environment changed?

I will be 44 years old by the time the earth reaches the year 2050. I would predict that the world will look different geographically and politically. The pollution produced globally will most likely cause industrialized urban centers to appear grey and bleak, particularly the sky. Politically, world borders will change as a result of ongoing conflicts that will end sometime before 2050, mainly in the Middle East. Civil wars, uprisings, and border disputes will cause the world to change politically. By 2050, technology will reach a certain level of innovation that technology wont be able to advance at the rate it is currently and previously.

Prompt: Imagine writing a letter to yourself 10 years from now. What advice, hopes, or reminders would you include?

If I were to write a letter to myself 10 years from now, I would most likely ask more questions about my life in the future. I would want to know what career I get, am I still in school, did I meet someone influential in my life? The reason I would ask questions as opposed to advice is the large time frame from the letter being written to the letter being read. After 10 years have gone by, anything that I wrote on that letter wont be able to change my life for the better or worse. I could write useful reminders in the letter, such as login credentials for old Internet accounts I have or certain statistics that I like to keep in my mind. I would probably hope for my life to be void of stress by the time I'm 28 and read the letter.
